HK Firm Seeks Freeze Of Ex-Exec s Assets Before $92M Suit
Law360, London (February 16, 2021, 5:15 PM GMT) A Hong Kong company urged the highest court for overseas British territories on Tuesday to revive freezing orders against the assets of its former director in the British Virgin Islands, arguing the courts there have jurisdiction to handle the matter.
Marking the start of a two-day hearing, Paul McGrath QC, counsel for Convoy Collateral Ltd., said the courts in the British Virgin Islands took the wrong turn when they overturned the orders against Cho Kwai Chee, also known as Cho Roy. Convoy Collateral sought the injunctions in advance of its $HK714 million ($92 million) damages claim against Cho in Hong Kong,.

For almost two decades, a 44-year-old man hailing from Dong Thap Province, located in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam, has never enjoyed a Lunar New Year holiday at home with his family, but in the hospital, due to his kidney illness.
The 2021 Lunar New Year, or Tet, is another festival that Nguyen Ngoc Em, with his body weakened and disabled by his kidney disease over time, has nobody but a wheelchair by his side.

HCM City to spend US$2.3 million to repair HCM City-Trung Luong expressway.
HCM City will spend VNĐ55 billion (US$2.3 million) to maintain and repair the HCM City-Trung Lương expressway.
HCM City will spend an additional VNĐ55 billion (US$2.3 million) to repair and maintain the HCM City-Trung Lương expressway.
Nguyễn Văn Thành, head of the Department of Road Management No 4, said that recently the city had spent VNĐ22 billion to repair a section of the expressway.
In April, the department would spend more VNĐ55 billion to continue the work.
After more than 10 years of operation, the expressway has deteriorated because of severe cracks caused by container trucks.
