Helmetless E-kickboard Tests in Fukuoka Streets From May
Trials for e-scooter without helmets began in Fukuoka City on Apr. 27. The mayor of the city, Soichiro Takashima, attended a ceremony where he demonstrated a ride along the road in front of Fukuoka City Hall. While the national traffic rules mandate the use of helmets upon riding electric kickboards, special approval has been made to allow more flexible use of shared e-scooters. Public users will be able to ride shared scooters from May 10 until the trial ends at the end of October.
