he commissioning of the new Kazungula Bridge across the Zambezi yesterday by the Presidents of Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and DRC is important for all for the SADC region in that it creates a second major north-south corridor across the region, vital in the growth of trade as everyone puts development on the top of the agenda, and also opening new investment opportunities, especially in tourism.
It also cements Zimbabwe’s return under the Second Republic to becoming a fully participating partner in regional planning and development, prepared to pay its share of the bills and be a good neighbour, rather than riding on the back of other countries’ efforts.

Zambia-Botswana-Border May 10, 2021 to 17:14 329 APA-Kazungula (Zambia) The leaders of Zambia and Botswana on Monday officially launched a rail and road bridge and one-stop border post that is expected to boost trade between the two countries and open another route to the sea for other landlocked southern African countries.
Zambian President Edgar Lungu and his Botswana counterpart Mokgweetsi Masisi opened the 923-metre-long Kazungula Bridge that links the town of Kazungula in Zambia with Botswana.
Lungu said the bridge and border post were conduits for further deepening regional integration in the Southern African Development Community (SADC), which has pursued a free trade area initiative since 2008.

TRAVELLERS can now enjoy day trips between Chobe in Botswana and Victoria Falls after Mack Air successfully landed in Victoria Falls on Saturday, marking the start of scheduled flights between the two destinations.
Mack Air becomes the first airline to offer international scheduled flights between Victoria Falls and Kasane and is expected to provide seamless and scenic experience to tourists around the Kavango–Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA) region.
It will fly past the meeting point of four countries Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia on the Zambezi River and surrounding game parks on the KAZA region.
