Landmark Oregon Coast restaurant The Bay House moves to Salishan Lodge: Gerry Frank s picks

Landmark Oregon Coast restaurant The Bay House moves to Salishan Lodge: Gerry Frank’s picks Updated May 04, 2021; Posted May 01, 2021 The Bay House restaurant recently moved to Salishan Coastal Lodge in Gleneden Beach, putting two Oregon Coast landmarks under the same roof. (John M. Vincent)The Oregonian Facebook Share The Bay House at Salishan (7760 N. Highway 101, Gleneden Beach; 541-996-3222; thebayhouse.org) has moved to Salishan Coastal Lodge (hence the name change) and is now on the main floor of the lodge in the space that previously housed the Cedar Tree restaurant. In the 40-plus years that this AAA Four Diamond jewel of a restaurant has been around, it has survived a change in ownership/staff as well as more recent changes, like its relocation and the trying times brought on by Oregon’s wildfires and the global coronavirus pandemic. Like many of its loyal patrons, I have continued to follow The Bay House through these changes.

Lexington Airport receives federal grant money

LEXINGTON — The Lexington Airport received $452,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration as part of a grant intended to improve airports statewide, according to a press release from the offices of U.S. Sens. Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley.  The grants provided 16 Oregon airports with about $10.3 million to prepare for winter weather, repair runways, improve guidance systems and perimeter fencing, and make other improvements. Lexington Airport received funds to install a guidance system for the runway and improve the airport’s pavement. “Oregonians living and working in communities large and small need safe and modern airport services for commerce that supports local jobs as well as for quality of life,” Wyden said. “The importance of federal investments in infrastructure like these local airports is especially crucial when Oregon small businesses and families are working hard to weather the economic fallout from this public health crisis.”

Inching Down the Central Oregon Coast from High Cliffs to Soft Sands

Inching Down the Central Oregon Coast from High Cliffs to Soft Sands Published 01/07/21 at 12:26 AM PDT By Oregon Coast Beach Connection staff (Depoe Bay, Oregon) – Oregon’s coastline is largely defined by three different sections: south coast (the bottom half), the central coast (the middle quarter) and the north coast (the upper quarter). In that central area – mostly Lincoln County and parts of Lane County – it’s an incredibly layered and varied stretch, usually known as the most popular section of the Oregon coast. (Above: Newport s Moolack Beach) Taking a quick tour down this gorgeous and intricate area, you can get lost in the natural beauty and then minutes later duck into an upscale eatery or scrumptious seafood dive.

Top 20 most-viewed Oregon homes for sale: Remodels, mansions, farmhouses, floating homes

Top 20 most-viewed Oregon homes for sale: Remodels, mansions, farmhouses, floating homes Updated Dec 19, 2020; In past years, the most viewed Oregon homes for sale online were over the top. In 2020, that changed, along with everything else. This year, as people faced a pandemic health crisis, economic insecurity and a need for more space to be used as a home office, gym and virtual classroom, home shoppers got serious. They searched for a well-priced home in the right location instead of spending time eyeing fantasy dwellings – although the fabled Blackberry Castle, famous for being for sale since 2015, is finally in escrow. Popular online searches ranged from a midcentury modern in Portland’s Bridlemile neighborhood, which is listed at $2,195,000, to a 1950 Mount Hood cabin in Government Camp, which sold Dec. 3 for $245,000.
