Domestic violence cases against Pakistani women increased during COVID-19 lockdown ANI | Updated: May 13, 2021 14:53 IST Islamabad [Pakistan] May 13 (ANI): The Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO), of Pakistan, reported a rise in domestic violence cases against women due to COVID-19 restrictions. Government should implement laws to protect Pakistani women and children, SSDO said. Writing in The Nation, Sania Arif revealed the grim reality of Pakistani women who are susceptible to physical abuse within the confined space of their homes. She writes the woes of these helpless women that increased during the nationwide lockdown in Pakistan. Violence against women has always been a serious issue, but due to honour and culture of our society, it is seldom talked about because it hurts the sentiments of our people. The issue has seen a new spike in recent times due to COVID-19 restrictions, she says.

Report on violence against women launched National March 9, 2021 Islamabad: The cases of violence against women and rape in Pakistan were doubled in the last six months of 2020 as compared to the first six months of the year. Similarly, the number of child abuse cases reported three times more in second half compared to first half of 2020. The province of Punjab has reported maximum cases of child abuse followed by Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The alarming statistics were revealed on Monday in a report titled “Tracking Numbers: State of Violence Against Women and Children in Pakistan” launched on the occasion of International Women Day by Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO).

Educating youth about SDGs stressed Islamabad February 4, 2021 Rawalpindi: Deputy Speaker, National Assembly Muhammad Qasim Khan Suri inaugurated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Wall at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) to create awareness about SDGs among students and faculty. Chairman, Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Abrar ul Haq, Secretary, Young Parliamentarians Forum, MNA Uzma Jadoon, Executive Director, SSDO Syed Kausar Abbas and Vice Chancellor FJWU Dr. Saima Hamid also graced the ceremony with their presence. Department of Sociology in collaboration with Sustainable Development Organization organised the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Qasim Khan Suri said that SDGs should be normalized to an extent that we know them by heart so that they are reflected in our actions and daily life. “Being the future of the country youth should be following them in letter and spirit. This will help us stand in the queue of developed nations,” he added.

Academia urged to equip youth with modern skills Islamabad January 14, 2021 Islamabad : Federal Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Wednesday urged the academia to educate and equip the youth with the skills that new emerging fields demand. He was speaking during a special ceremony organised by the QAU Office of Research Innovation and Commercialisation in collaboration with the Sustainable Social Development Organisation (SSDO) to inaugurate the Sustainable Development Goals Wall at the university here. Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali and SSDO Executive Director Syed Kausar Abbas were also in attendance. The minister said in developed countries, universities had changed the landscape of the society by research and innovation.
