Cyber Police Kashmir Saves Rs 6 Lakhs Lost In Remote Access Mobile Application Scam
SRINAGAR: Cyber Police Station Kashmir Zone, Srinagar on Wednesday claimed to have recovered Rs 6 lakh from online fraudsters.
In a statement, Cyber Police said that multiple complaints were received in past one week wherein complainants were duped by fraudsters through ‘Remote Access Mobile Application Scam’.
“Many complainants were duped of lakhs of rupees on the software platform. The scamsters impersonated BSNL/JIO customer care representatives and sent fake messages on the victims’ mobile phones asking them to complete the KYC of their sim cards and giving a warning message that the SIM cards will be deactivated in case they failed to comply with the directions,” the Cyber Police in a statement said.

The cyber department received information that some fake call centres are running in Kashmir Valley and accordingly the investigation into the instant matter was taken up by them.
It is revealed that some individuals are impersonating as executives of multinational companies under the garb of bogus international call centres.
These fake call centre executives were extorting money from them in return for help by impersonating as technical support
Srinagar: Cyber Police Kashmir has busted fake call centres and arrested 23 persons who allegedly duped people by impersonating as executives of e-commerce companies on Wednesday (January 13).
Cyber Police Station Kashmir Zone, Srinagar received information through reliable sources that some fake call centres are running in Kashmir Valley and accordingly the investigation into the instant matter was taken up by them.
