SLWA program saves residents big | News, Sports, Jobs

jfisher@timesrepublican.com Marshalltown residents have exceeded $1 million in savings from repair costs thanks to the city adopting the Service Line Warranties of America program. The program was brought to Marshalltown in 2011 thanks to research by Steve Simons who was the city’s sewer superintendent at the time. It offers residents the option of purchasing coverage for repairs to water and sewer lines with no deductible. If a service line is damaged, SLWA will cover up to $8,500 in repair costs which includes everything from plumbing to concrete removal. SLWA is a home repair service based in Pennsylvania. It offers services in about 100 cities in Iowa.

(WTOC) - If you own a house in Savannah, be on the lookout for some mail from the city. A new service is now available that will repair your water and sewer lines connected to the city’s systems. This new service was approved by the city council last year, and this week, the option will be available to all homeowners in Savannah. The partnership with Service Line Warranties of America offers protection for damaged water and sewer lines. These repairs are not covered by homeowner’s insurance or by the city.

Indianola Service Lines Warranty Program

The City of Indianola is a part of a program administered by Service Line Warranties of America that is sponsored and supported by the National League of Cities that allows warranty coverage on service lines for properties. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the program is an insurance program for residents in the event anything would happen to the city service lines to an owned property. “So if anything were to happen to the service lines, the sanitary sewer lines which convey the sewage from your house, this program would most likely cover that.” Waller said the program is completely voluntary, and residents can sign up for it if they like.
