Kanye West reemerged in the media last weekend for something other than his very public divorce by helping raise over $1 million to help out the family of fellow rapper and Christian brother DMX.Â
The money was raised after West commissioned a charity shirt designed by Balenciaga for Yeezy in remembrance of the late emcee whose birth name was Earl Simmons.
A photo shows the shirt adorned with white crosses on both sides. And the back features the text, âIn Loving Memory.â

The DMXtribute shirt created by Kanye West s Yeezy brand and Balenciaga has reportedly netted over $1 million in profits that will benefit the family of the late rapper.
On Sunday (April 25), TMZ reported that sources in the Kanye camp tell them the shirt quickly raked in seven-figures after going on sale on April 24 and selling out within hours. As announced, net profits from the one-time drop will go to DMX s kids.

The shirt, which was made by luxury brand Balenciaga at the behest of West, hit the ’Net over the weekend. The long-sleeve, over-sized shirt features an image of X, who is flanked by two crosses. The acronym R.I.P. is above his head. His birth and death dates appear on the sleeve. Even at a steep asking price of $200, the shirts flew off the site.
The late great New York MC DMX’ funeral took place over the weekend and Kanye West was in attendance performing for X with his Sunday Service Choir. But Ye also did something very nice as he raised $1 Million dollars for the family of DMX with his t-shirt collaboration with Balenciaga that had DMX’s picture on the shirt which sold out in within 24 hours.

On Sunday,
TMZ reported that the $200 shirts sold out within 24 hours over the weekend. The net profits from the shirts, which feature the likeness of the rap artist and text that says “In Loving Memory,” will be given to Simmons’ family. The shirt was also promoted on Simmons’ Instagram account on Saturday.
‘Balenciaga has been asked by Yeezy to design a T-shirt in tribute to the late artist Earl Simmons, aka DMX. A tribute to the artist and his fans with net proceeds benefiting Simmons’s family,’ the post read.
