The KMC Alulmni COVID Relief Project aims at protecting the population in villages by creating a strong network of trained volunteers and healthcare workers. Residents of villages, who wish to become volunteers, will network with the community to prevent the spread of the infection. The association has planned to adopt 100 villages across the State and 100 doctors will each network with a resident volunteer in the selected villages.

Vishnu inaugurated the renovated COVID-19 control room with state-of-the-art communication facilities on the Collectorate premises here on Friday. According to Mr. Vishnu, the control room had been renovated and equipped with high-speed internet facility to transmit data, videos and photos immediately to Chennai and share it with other frontline health workers as the number of cases was going up everyday. Since most of the new patients were from Tirunelveli, the data being compiled everyday would be of great help to doctors and others in treating the patients and their contacts.

First randomization of EVMs completed Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA The first randomization of electronic voting machines and the VVPATs (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) to be used in five Assembly segments during the upcoming Assembly polls was held at the Collectorate on Tuesday. Chairing the exercise that was held in the presence of the representatives of recognized political parties, Collector V. Vishnu said each Assembly segment would be allotted 120% of ballot and the control units and 133% of VVPATs so that the replacement of machines in case of technical glitch could be done within no time in any booth. Members of the Poll Expenditure Committee explained in detail about maintaining records relating to election expenses of the candidates.
