SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ â Each year up to 20 Combs High School students graduate, not only with their high school diploma, but with their Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credentials allowing them to start working immediately.
âAbout 80 to 85 percent (of the students) pass the state exam at the end of the course and most of those students enter the workforce right away as CNAs,â said Career and Technical Education Director John Scrogham.

CANTON One of the faculty members responsible for integrating advanced technology in the SUNY Canton Nursing program has been promoted.
Dawne M. Barkley, Madrid, recently became an associate professor in the college s School of Science, Health and Criminal Justice. Barkley began working as a clinical instructor for the Nursing associate degree in 2007, a program that she graduated from 20 years earlier.
After she began working at the college, she went on to earn her master s in Nursing Education in 2010 and her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2016 from Chamberlain University.
Barkley has been described as a change agent who helped bring technology to the nursing department and aiding with student success on the National Council Licensure Examination.

MANUFACTURING EXPERT TO SPEAK AT CHAMBER EVENT: Slade Gardner, one of the foremost authorities on additive manufacturing, will speak a the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber’s 2021 annual meeting March 17 at the Eastwood Event Centre.
Gardner has been pioneering industrial additive manufacturing technologies for two decades. He is president and founder of Big Metal Additive, whose products include satellite components, construction machinery repair parts, spacecraft development articles, automotive chassis, a 21-foot diameter unmanned underwater vehicle and a 50-foot ocean capable cargo transport.
Previously, he was the technology and strategy leader for implementation of Advanced Manufacturing and Materials at Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company Advanced Technology Center.

YOUNGSTOWN ONE Health Ohio welcomed nurse practitioner Brandy LaCivita to its team of health care professionals.
LaCivita is accepting new patients of all ages at the Warren West Community Health Center, 716 Tod Ave. SW, Warren, and pediatric patients at Premier Care Pediatrics, 2642 state Route 5, Cortland. Appointments can be scheduled by calling ONE Health Ohio at 877-722-3303.
LaCivita completed her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Mercy College, and then obtained her Master of Science degree in nursing from Chamberlain University.
