CONWAY, S.C. (AP) Camerun Peoples and Appalachian State began college football s virus-impacted bowl season with a record-breaking show at the Myrtle Beach Bowl on Monday.
Peoples ran for a bowl-record 317 yards and tied another mark with five rushing touchdowns to lead the Mountaineers past North Texas 56-28.
“This is probably one of the most memorable football games I ve ever played,” Peoples said.
The sophomore surpassed the 307 yards rushing of Georgia Tech s PJ Daniels in the 2004 Humanitarian Bowl. Peoples also became the seventh player to run for that many scores in a bowl game, a list that includes Oklahoma State s Barry Sanders and Toledo s Kareem Hunt, as the Mountaineers (9-3) remained a perfect 6-0 in bowls since joining the Sun Belt Conference in

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The inaugural Myrtle Beach Bowl will be remembered as a record-setting day for Appalachian State sophomore running back Camerun Peoples.
The Lineville, Ala., native had 29 carries for 319 yards and five rushing touchdowns in the 56-28 win over North Texas at Brooks Stadium. Peoples set the all-time NCAA bowl record with 319 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. He scored on runs of 3, 64, 62, 4, and 11 yards for the Mountaineers.

It’s December 21, 2020 and it’s officially bowl season in college football.
The first bowl game of the season is slated for this afternoon as the 2020 Myrtle Beach Bowl kicks off from Brooks Stadium in Conway, South Carolina. Sun Belt powerhouse Appalachian State (8-3) will take on North Texas (4-5) of Conference USA.
Appalachian State got off to a great start to their season, going 6-1 with some impressive wins on their schedule. But their shot at the Sun Belt title game was ended in a 34-23 loss to No. 15 Coastal Carolina, ending their four-year run of conference dominance.
The 2020 college football bowl season figures to be like none other, with COVID-19 issues causing some squads to opt out and bowl games having to be canceled because of a lack of participating teams.
Still, there are 28 bowl games left to keep us entertained between now and the Jan. 11 College Football Playoff National Championship presented by AT&T at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida (8 p.m. ET, ESPN/ESPN App).
