Picture: Richard Garnett SUPERMARKETS and food/convenience stores across Merseyside are being urged to follow COVID secure public health guidance. Several national supermarkets have confirmed they will be tightening up the rules and enforcing the use of face coverings in their stores which is welcomed by Directors. Public health guidance for supermarkets includes ensuring the use of face coverings by customers and staff (unless someone is medically exempt), a one way system, a limit on numbers of shoppers in store, social distancing markers for two-metres and allowing only one person to shop with exceptions such as people who need a carer.
Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Liverpool THE team that created Clatterbridge Cancer centre s new hospital in Liverpool has been shortlisted for a major national award. Clatterbridge Cancer Center - Liverpool, which opened in June in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic, was a collaboration between The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust, its estates subsidiary PropCare, architects BDP, contractor Laing O’Rourke, and infrastructure firm AECOM. They are finalists in the Built Environment category of the HSJ Partnership Awards 2021, which recognise outstanding dedication to improving healthcare and effective collaboration with the NHS. The winners will be selected in June. The hospital delivers specialist cancer care including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy and stem cell transplants for the 2.4m people of Cheshire and Merseyside.
Covid-19 test sign COUNCIL leaders across Liverpool City Region - which includes Wirral - have praised the Covid-19 SMART testing system that has helped the area stay in Tier 2. They say the Covid-19 Testing pilot s success may help reduce restrictions further in the future and have urged the public to coming forward for the rapid test. The Liverpool City Region is one of the few places not in tier 3 in the country where anyone can turn up for rapid, regular and free testing without having symptoms of Covid-19. All six Local Authorities in the Liverpool City Region (Liverpool, Halton, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral) are taking part in the extended programme which aims to use targeted testing to enable people to live more normal lives.
