While we get a full range of performance trucks these days, they are mostly all-terrain animals, so those seeking a road-biased velocity machine with a bed need to play the nostalgia card. We d say the rendering in front of us does that pretty well, with the 3D work getting things right from the get-go by building on a 1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS 454. 5 photos
We re looking at the third generation of the iconic nameplate here. Built between 1968 and 1972, it saw the El Camino fully making the transition from utility vehicle to a performance proposal, as the truck shared the A-body platform with legends such as the Chevy Chevelle, the Oldsmobile Cutlass, and the Pontiac GTO, among others.

We don t want to sound like Dom here, but old cars are all about family. And this 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle is a garage built restomod that a man put together for his wife over several months. Screw the flowers; every lady should get one of these! 20 photos
The Chevelle was the recent star of an
AutotopiaLA walkaround and showcase. It s not the most desirable model year, and its spec might even offend the purists, but it s like a modern hot rod put together using what s available.
As the story goes, builder Jason put this together to stop the wife from driving his own muscle car. We get it; it sucks when somebody messes with your seat, plus it s a good excuse to spend money on another vehicle.

Having first surfaced in the 1920s, hot rods are interesting enough for a certain group of people to be made even today. But as with most great things in life, it’s the older ones that have a unique appeal - in this case, the machines put together back in the glory days of the genre, the 1950s. 31 photos
The hot rod you’re looking at now, a 1932 Ford by design, was first shown at the Oakland Roadster Show in 1952. It is now in possession of Barrett-Jackson CEO s Craig Jackson, who will be selling it with no reserve during his company’s event in Scottsdale in March.

One of the best things about attending the major collector car auctions is getting to see some of the best examples of rare cars. There will be good cars, some great cars, and a few that are the acme of their brand and model. One of those was this exceedingly rare 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS convertible that just traded hands at the Mecum Kissimmee auction in Florida last week.
This Chevy Chevelle was exceptional for a number of reasons. General Motors had a corporate policy prohibiting V8 engines larger than 400 cubic inches in A-Body platform cars. This was lifted for the 1970 model year, allowing the LS5 and LS6 454s to be installed in Chevelles. This example was optioned with the King Kong of American muscle, the 450 horsepower LS6 454, a one-year-only engine for the Chevy Chevelle. The monstrous Big Block was backed by the Muncie M22 “Rockcrusher” close-ratio four speed transmission, and a 3.31 Positraction rear end. The entirety of the drivetrain is original wi
