Government issues spectrum auction notice, auction to start on March 1

The Indian government has issued spectrum auctions notification that it earlier announced would take place this year. The auction is scheduled to begin on March 3, with pre-bid conferences and procedural steps to be completed by that time. The public company MSTC Limited, formerly the Metal Scrap Trade Corporation, will be administering the auction online.
“Rights to use spectrum at specified frequencies in the 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz and 2500 MHz bands (subject to fulfilment of eligibility conditions, relevant licence conditions and any particular conditions pertaining to specific frequency blocks) for a period of twenty (20) years” will be auctioned, the Department of Telecommunications said in its bid document.

Hyderabad, Jan 6 : Telangana s tower density is 0.71 per thousand population against the national average of 0.42 per cent, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said on Wednesday while presiding over the second meeting of the State Broadband Committee.
The National Broadband mission has set the tower density target of 1.7 by 2024.
Kumar informed that the government is committed for the fiberisation of Base Station Towers (BTS) and extend necessary support for the better communicational coverage in the state.
The state is having 35 per cent of fiberisation of BTS at present and will reach the target of 70 per cent set by National Broadband Mission. The chief secretary assured representations from electricity and Panchayat Raj departments to sort out the issues.

New Delhi, Jan 6 : The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has announced that the next round of spectrum auctions will start on March 1.
As per the Notice Inviting Applications issued on Wednesday, telecom companies can apply till February 5.
The final list of the bidders will be declared on February 24 and bids will be for spectrum in frequency bands of 700 MHz, 800Mhz, 900 Mhz, 2100 Mhz, 2300 Mhz and 2500 MHz, according to the notice.
