Black Cat Ice Cream partners with Pet Bistro, AHeinz57 on adoptions

Black Cat Ice Cream is taking its name literally this weekend. In what founder Alex Carter hopes is the first of many, the ice cream shop is partnering with The Pet Bistro, a customizable dog treat and food store in Des Moines, and the DeSoto-based AHeinz57 Pet Rescue to host an adoption event Sunday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. True to the business s namesake, the event will feature three adult black cats Mama, Baby Bean and Ouzo as well as four multicolored kittens named Bumble, Stanley, Terri and Ivy. Carter hopes to make adoption events a monthly occurrence.

The dynamic Cedar Falls family behind the social media accounts I ve Pet That Dog and I ve Pet That Cat as well as the book, Pet That Dog! are at it again. Next summer, Rachel Braunigan and her son, 11-year-old Nigel Kidd, will release the family s second book, a companion to Pet That Dog! called Pet That Cat! The new book will feature quizzes, cat facts which Braunigan said are her son s specialty as well as tips on how to pet and care for cats. Like Pet That Dog! , written by Braunigan and Nigel s older brother, Gideon, it will be published by Quirk Books.
