NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â Metro Nashville Public Schools teachers and staff could receive a bonus this spring.
School officials are proposing the use of $3 million in state education funding and nearly $8 million of Federal stimulus grants to give them a $1,000 bonus.
This is part of $51 million in education funding that MNPS plans to allocate specifically for COVID operations. However, it must get approval from the state s Department of Education first. They ve already sent an application for approval and are hoping for an answer soon.

A proposal to create a new school voucher program, legislation banning transgender girls from playing on girls sports teams and a pay raise for state lawmakers were among the bills left behind as a key legislative deadline came and went Monday.
House lawmakers continued to flirt with passing their own version of a bill that would legalize and regulate sports betting, all for naught. It was not necessary, though, after the Senate passed a bill and accompanying constitutional amendment last week.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Beach School Board approved an $828.8 million operating budget Tuesday for Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) 2021-22 fiscal year.
Within the budget includes a 5% pay raise for all staff, which includes a 4.5% pay increase in cost-of-living adjustment and a .5% step increase for those reaching or below top of school system s pay scale. We believe the initiatives outlined in this plan are essential to providing VBCPS students and staff with the supports they need to succeed during the ongoing health pandemic and beyond, said Board Chairwoman Carolyn Rye.
The budget will provide funding to increase allowances for advanced degrees, to upgrade school counseling department chairs and to move all custodians up one pay grade.
