CHARLOTTE, N.C. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation after one person was shot and killed in northwest Charlotte Monday afternoon.
Police responded around 1 p.m. to Celia Avenue, off of Beatties Ford Road, after receiving an assault with a deadly weapon call for service. When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
MEDIC transported the victim to a local hospital where he has since been pronounced dead. The victim’s identity has not been released.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - One person died following a shooting in north Charlotte Monday afternoon.
The incident happened before 1:30 p.m. on Celia Avenue near the intersection with Onyx Street north of uptown.
Just before 2:30 p.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police confirmed that one person was shot and died at the hospital.
Police are investigating the incident as a homicide.

According to police, the shooting happened Monday at around 1 p.m. on Celia Avenue. When officers got to the scene, they found 21-year-old Devonte Washington who had been shot. Medic rushed Washington to a Charlotte hospital where he later died.
