Kota Kinabalu: Upko President Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau
(pic) claimed a handful of senior Umno backbenchers appear to be treated like opposition MPs when it comes to allocations for their constituencies.
He said these MPs were receiving only RM100,000 instead of the RM3.7 million given to others.
Calling this an “unfair” practice, the Tuaran MP believed this was a form of punishment for these party leaders for not always seeing eye to eye with Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders.

Tangau said he empathised with Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is Bagan Datuk MP, and others in his party who received this sum, an amount which is given to opposition MPs.

Kuala Lumpur: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s bid to disqualify Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram as prosecutor in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) audit tampering case trial will be heard today (Wednesday) at the High Court as scheduled.
On Jan 12, the Federal Court Chief Registrar’s Office in a statement said that all hearings of criminal cases in open court initially scheduled for Jan 13 until Jan 26 were postponed following re-implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) to curb the spread of Covid-19.
KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 6): Former 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) CEO Mohd Hazem Abdul Rahman seemed to be non-committal about putting the blame on Goldman Sachs and his predecessor Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi with regard to the issues surrounding the controversial fund s acquisition of Mastika Lagenda Sdn Bhd.
During the continuation of cross-examination today, Hazem was quizzed over the 49% call option granted to Aabar Investments PJS Ltd (BVI) as well as a purported security deposit of US$577 million for Aabar to secure a guarantee from International Petroleum Investment Corp (IPIC).
Datuk Seri Najib Razak s senior counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah put it to the witness that the deal was a criminal scheme to embezzle the proceeds from the bond issuance by 1MDB Energy (Langat) Ltd.
