Sandals Barbados opened in January 2015 with 280 rooms set on seven acres, while its sibling Sandals Royal Barbados, debuted in December 2017 with 222 suites on 14 acres. Sandals Barbados reopens on May 14. But Sandals isn t sitting still: The room inventory at Sandals Royal Barbados will grow by 66 new suites in its South Seas Village expansion, which includes the brand s signature Rondoval suites and the Skypool and Crystal Lagoon swim-up suites. The expansion is set to debut this summer.

David Roper Roper already had had five years of Caribbean tourism experience under his belt when he joined Sandals Resorts in 1986 as general manager of Sandals Royal Caribbean. At the time of his death, he held the post of director of industry relations. I do not remember  a time when I did not know and love David Roper, said Adam Stewart, executive chairman. He was a fun and natural force for good. While he had an encyclopedic memory of the history of the company, David was never confined to the past and was one of the most innovative and capable leaders.
