$75,299.92 was raised during the fifth annual Huron Shores Hike for Hospice, which took place on Saturday, May 8, which surpassed their fundraising goal of $50,000. This amount includes sponsorship from local businesses Bruce Power ($7,000), NPX ($1,000) and Grey Matter ($150).
The virtual event brought out 135 participants.
It appears COVID-19 had nothing on Huron Shores Hospice.
Co-chair Cheryl Cottrill says as of Tuesday, the organization managed to raise $74,168 from Saturday’s virtual Hike for Hospice.
That is well above their $50,000 goal that they had originally set out.
Cottrill says $225,000 is needed to operate their two-suite hospice in Tiverton.
She says 134 people participated in the virtual walk.
