A California teen is accused of stabbing an Uber driver to death and prosecutors want her to be tried as an adult.
The suspect, who is 17, was arraigned virtually Friday in the stabbing incident which happened on Tuesday. She entered a plea of not guilty in juvenile court through her attorney. A teenage girl accused of fatally stabbing an Uber driver in National City earlier this week denied all charges brought by prosecutors in court Friday.
The defendant, whose name and age were not disclosed because she is a juvenile, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of killing Raquel Spohn Wehber near South Lanoitan Avenue at East 18th Street.
Deputy District Attorneys Cherie Somerville and Diva Aziz charged the defendant with murder and torture. The defendant is currently being tried in juvenile court, but the prosecution is pushing to move the case to criminal court where she would be tried as an adult. She remains in custody.
