#CoronavirusSA: 2 320 new cases recorded

NW ANC councillor injured during shooting incident

───   LUCKY NKUYANE 08:12 Wed, 17 Feb 2021 Police in the North West has launched a manhunt for suspects allegedly involved in an attempted murder after an ANC councillor in the Ditsobotla Local Municipality, which includes Itsoseng, was injured during a shooting incident. Police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, says the councillor sustained gunshot wounds to his body. The councillor was shot while inside a car in Zone 1 in the area. The incident took place on Saturday night. Mokgwabone says the councillor was taken to a healthcare centre for medical treatment but was later transferred to a local hospital.  So far no-one has been apprehended and the investigation into the matter continues.

Law enforcers must act against #Magashule

───   KATLEHO MORAPELA 11:23 Wed, 17 Feb 2021 The Hawks and the NPA must act against the former Premier of the Free State Ace Magashule. This is according to the Congress of the People (COPE). The party’s national spokesperson, Dennis Bloem, says they are disturbed by how the two law enforcement agencies are seemingly failing to hold Magashule and former Free State Agriculture MEC Mosebenzi Zwane accountable for the multimillion-rand failed Vrede Dairy Project. Bloem says Magashule and Zwane should have been arrested for the controversial project following testimonies at the Zondo Commission implicating them in corruption.  OFM News previously reported that over R220 million earmarked to assist 80 upcoming farmers at Vrede was looted from the province without any beneficiary seeing a single cent. FS ANC RET rallies behind Magashule

───   LUCKY NKUYANE 12:16 Wed, 17 Feb 2021 PHOTO: Katleho Morapela A group of ANC members in the Free State, calling itself the Radical Economic Transformation Forces, has ascended Naval Hill in Bloemfontein where it pledged its support to ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule and former president Jacob Zuma. The group has called a media briefing where they are set to outline their views on the recent developments involving the ANC National Executive Committee s (NEC) adoption of a step-aside policy. They are also expected to touch on the recent controversial stand by the former president to defy the constitutional court order instructing him to appear before the state capture commission were he is being implicated at least 40 times.
