The University of Cincinnatiâs (UC) student news organization, The News Record (TNR), has elected a new editor-in-chief (EIC) for the 2021-22 academic year. David Rees, a third-year journalism major and political science minor, will succeed current EIC, Anne Simendinger.Â
Rees has been involved with TNR since his first week on UCâs campus. He began writing for the news section and was quickly promoted to chief reporter. The following year, Rees became TNRâs features editor. As editor, Reesâ goal was to promote diversity and inclusion at UC. He said he is most proud of his âLiving Openlyâ series, where he featured different LGBTQ+ faculty, staff and students at the university.Â
