BuzzFeed News is reporting that Amazon has notified Parler that it would be cutting off the social network from its cloud hosting service Amazon Web Services. The suspension, which went into effect on Sunday just before midnight, means that Parler will be unable to operate and will go offline unless it can find another hosting service. Parler, which was launched in 2018, has become a safe haven for people banned by popular sites including Facebook and Twitter. Tech giant Google suspended Talking, the US-based free speech-focused microblogging platform from its App Store on Tuesday, citing articles inciting violence and demanding “robust” moderation, the same day as Twitter permanently suspended the account of US President Donald Trump. The incident came on the backs of protesters, supporting Trump, storming the U.S. Capitol a few days ago. Speaking had seen a wave of Trump supporters, and there were reports that Trump himself might be setting up his base there, as all the major social media companies have launched some sort of purge of their systems. Google was not the only one to press Parler to initiate content moderation. Apple also warned the company that it would ban the service from its App Store.
Washington [US], January 12 (ANI): Parler, the alternative social media platform favoured by conservatives in the US, sued Amazon on Monday (local time) after the tech giant de-platformed it, alleging an antitrust violation, breach of contract and interference with the company's business relationships with users.
