Chandrasekhar Rao has convened a meeting of his Cabinet on Tuesday afternoon to discuss imposition of lockdown in the State in view of surge in COVID-19 cases. A release of CMO said the meeting was taking place in the background of diverse opinions emerging about lockdown yielding results to curb COVID. Reports suggested that the results were not satisfactory in some States where lockdown was clamped. At the same time, sections of people favoured lockdown as the only way to deal with the situation.

Image Source: IANS News Hyderabad, May 7 : The Telangana government on Friday extended night curfew in the state till May 15 and imposed restrictions on gatherings to check the spread of Covid-19. Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar issued a Government Order (GO), extending the night curfew by a week. The curfew will be in force from 9 p.m. till 5 a.m. the next day. The government had, on April 20, imposed the night curfew till April 30 and later extended it by a week.

Image Source: IANS News Hyderabad, May 7 : The Telangana government is taking special measures to ensure uninterrupted and speedy transportation of medical oxygen tankers. Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Friday directed all the officials concerned to work with co-ordination. He asked Transport Department officials to form teams with experts in logistics to transport oxygen tankers in two routes onward and return from Angur, Odisha and Bellari, Karnataka in the shortest possible time. He directed officials to discuss with railway officials to provide Green Channel facility for the non-stop movement of the Oxygen Express to minimise travelling time to three days from six days.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar inspected the ongoing works of the new ward with additional beds being set up in the hospital’s library building. He visited the triage facility and interacted with doctors and staff, congratulating them for the yoemen services they were rendering. Mr Kumar inspected the new oxygen generation plant with a capacity of 4 metric tonne which started functioning from Friday. The plant would cater to the needs of around 400 patients.
