KOTA KINABALU: Three family members were injured during a fire that broke out at their house.

Tawau Fire and Rescue team rushed to the scene following a distress call from the hardcore poor housing project (PPRT) unit in Kampung Hampalan, Pulau Bum Bum at 2.54pm.
A man and his teenage daughter sustained minor burns, while another sustained 50% burns on her body and legs.
Ninety percent of the house was damaged during the incident, said the Tawau Fire and Rescue Department in a statement on Tuesday (May 11).

SEMPORNA: All close contacts of infected individuals in Keramat Cluster, the new Covid-19 cluster here, have completed their first screening test Sunday, said Semporna District Health Officer Dr Shameer Khan Sulaiman.
He said about 100 screening tests were conducted involving the cluster and from the tests, 30 samples had not yet received the results.
“After that, a second screening test will be conducted to ensure that everyone involved in this cluster is tested negative for Covid-19,” he said.

Dr Shameer said his department was now focusing on ensuring that residents immediately registered for the Government’s immunisation programme and has requested Semporna residents to continue adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the pandemic.

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah police are proposing mandatory quarantine for those returning from other parts of the country after the school holidays and Hari Raya Aidilfitri break.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hazani Ghazali said apart from taking the Covid-19 swab tests, those who leave the state and return after the holidays should also be asked to undergo quarantine.
“We will have a discussion on this with other agencies and departments, ” he told a press conference here on Monday (May 10), adding that any updates to this proposal will be announced by state authorities.
Police man roadblocks as interstate ban comes into effect

KUALA LUMPUR – As Aidilfitri draws near, there still are some individuals who are stubborn and willing to break the law to cross state borders although the interstate travel ban comes into effect today.
In KELANTAN, after over 1,000 vehicles that tried to enter the state were ordered to turn back yesterday, another 366 vehicles were ordered to do the same from 12 am till 7 am today for not having police permits.

“Currently, roadblocks are conducted at three entry points into Kelantan – Jeli, Gua Musang and Pasir Puteh – and 1,426 vehicles have been ordered to turn back,” Kelantan Police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat said when contacted by Bernama today.
