And then I asked myself what soccer outside of Sounders, OL Reign, and Tacoma Defiance is actually worth watching. That question is a lot harder to answer. In order to figure out what to watch around the American soccer landscape you have to know how your own teams are doing; they’re the cool teams. The other teams aren’t cool.

Allie Long traded from OL Reign to Gotham FC Share this story Allie Long is heading back home. The Long Island native is joining her hometown club NJ/NY Gotham FC formerly known as Sky Blue FC following a trade on Tuesday. Long will join Gotham in exchange for $80,000 in allocation money, Gotham’s second-round pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft, and a swap of spots in the NWSL Discovery Priority list. OL Reign now hold the top spot in that list, which determines priority if two or more teams want to make a discovery claim on a player not currently in the league.

That was so long ago that back then the club was known as Reign FC. It was a gap no one could have ever imagined, but finally, OL Reign welcomed fans back to Cheney Stadium as they began their 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup campaign against the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup champions, Houston Dash.
