May 13, 2021 - Washington - Senators Dianne Feinstein and Alex Padilla (both D-Calif.) on Wednesday joined with Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen (both D-Nev.) to
introduce bipartisan legislation to extend authorization of the
Lake Tahoe Restoration Act.
The original Lake Tahoe Restoration Act was passed in 2000 and authorized $300 million for the restoration of the lake and surrounding basin. The current authorization, which was passed in 2016, will expire in 2024. Reauthorizing the bill will prevent an interruption in conservation and restoration planning.
Companion legislation was introduced in the House by Representatives Mark Amodei (R-Nev.), John Garamendi (D-Calif.), Dina Titus (D-Nev.), Susie Lee (D-Nev.), and Steven Horsford (D-Nev.).
A bipartisan group of 50 Senators, led by Senator Brian Schatz introduced the Creating Opportunities Now for Necessary and Effective Care Technologies for Health Act of 2021, which builds on prior iterations of the bill with learnings from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Democratic Party should and will pay a political price for this proposal.
Even though the Democrats will likely pivot to what will be perceived as a more moderate approach to reforming the Court, Republicans have the opportunity to keep the spotlight focused on Democrats radical big-picture agenda.
The proposal s unveiling would have been a master class in gaslighting had its true intentions not been so alarmingly obvious.
Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-N.Y.) called the current Supreme Court hostile to democracy because of its current conservative makeup. The only way we can save our democracy, he argued, is to pack the court with four new liberal justices. He somehow considers a 7-6 liberal majority balance for the Supreme Court.

nsumption lounges and other public spaces. We might have forgotten what it feels like to get together, but cannabis advocates haven’t. Two new bills have been introduced to the Nevada Assembly that would legalize social consumption in public places.
Happy 420!
Assembly Bill 341, introduced by Rep. Steve Yeager, would legalize (and regulate) cannabis consumption lounges. Additionally, AB322 would allow for the sale and consumption of cannabis at live events. This one has three primary sponsors and five co-sponsors, so it seems to be popular.
Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom would like to see even more permissive public consumption laws. “I think we’re ready to really blow the doors off this thing,” Segerblom says. “If we do soon, we can be the marijuana capital of the world.”
