By Tom Moore May 11, 2021 (Cleveland) - Cleveland City Council voted Monday to join four members of Congress, in asking that the U.S. Department of Justice reopen the case of the shooting death of 12-year-old Tamir Rice by now-former Cleveland Police Officer Timothy Loehmann. The investigation into possible federal charges was dropped by the Trump Administration s Justice Department. Some said it was a politically-oriented decision. The resolution was sponsored by Ward 9 Councilman Kevin Conwell, who said it s the right thing to do, saying, It s our right, and our duty, to fight for anyone from the City of Cleveland, said Conwell.
