A bill that implements new training standards for law-enforcement officers has been passed in the Florida Senate.
House Bill 7051 looks to, among other things, update policies on use of force by officers and limits the use of choke holds.
State Senator Audrey Gibson says the bill gives lawmakers an opportunity to build a consensus for policing standards.
State Senator Randolph Bracy thinks the bill is a good jumping off point and something they can build upon during the next legislative session.
The bill passed by a vote of 40-0 and now heads to the governor s desk.
