JCC Declines to Replace Cathy Young as Commencement Speaker Following Backlash
Jamestown Community College has no plans to replace former State Senator
Cathy Young as the Commencement speaker following backlash over her legislative actions in regards to the Queer community.

Dr. Greg Rabb issued a statement last week speaking out against Young being the speaker, citing her votes against marriage equality and transgender rights.
College officials responded to WRFA saying they will be moving forward with Cathy Young as the keynote speaker at the virtual ceremony on Friday. An updated statement from JCC President Dr. Daniel DeMarte is below.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) As construction continues on the future Terre Haute Police Department headquarters, a U. S. Senator toured the new building.
Senator Todd Young of Indiana visited Terre Haute as Police Appreciation week approaches. With conversations regarding police reform continuing nationally and in the state of Indiana, Senator Young said the new headquarters will add value to the community.
“You can’t have a growing economy, you can’t have a vibrant society, you can’t educate your children, and live in peace if you don’t have a strong and supported law enforcement community. They’re essential to everything,” Young said.

When George Halas died, the Chicago Bears added his initials to their uniform and continue this practice to this day. Recently, we lost Bobby Leonard. He was as beloved by most Hoosiers and had a great or greater an impact on the Indiana Pacers as Halas had on the Bears. Currently, he is being honored by the Pacers with a black bar with Slick incorporated within the bar. This is for the current season only. I ask, why doesn’t the team give him his proper honor and in perpetuity place “Slick” in a stylish font on the front of all of their uniforms, say under the current Nike swoosh? It is Indiana’s team and he was a treasure of Indiana!
