(KNSI) – Former Minnesota Sixth District Congressman Mark Kennedy is out as University of Colorado President.
The school’s Board of Regents voted Wednesday 6-3 against allowing Kennedy to serve out the final year of his contract and instead voted 8-1 to pay him $1.35 million, including his $850,000 salary, plus unused vacation time and other money.
The school’s regents are elected with party affiliation, and Kennedy is a Republican former Congressman. He was chosen to lead the school by the then-Republican majority board. In November, the board’s makeup changed with a Democratic majority, which Kennedy said led to “changes in its focus and philosophy.”

Minnesota is saying goodbye to a giant in local journalism today. Former Star Tribune columnist Jim Klobuchar has died at the age of 93 following a long battle with Alzheimer s Disease.
Klobuchar was also the father of Senator Amy Klobuchar. The Senator released a statement about the passing of her father.

He grew up the son of an iron ore miner, attended a community college in Northern Minnesota, and graduated with a journalism degree from the University of Minnesota. New Day devoted a segment to the question of which Democrat Iowa caucus-goers might choose if they re looking for a moderate. The supposed moderates mentioned by host Alisyn Camerota and reporter Jeff Zeleny were Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg, and Amy Klobuchar.
