Woburn delegation celebrates climate legislation signing

Sen. Cindy Friedman, D-Arlington, and Reps. Rich Haggerty, D-Woburn, and Michelle Ciccolo, D-Lexington, joined their colleagues in the Massachusetts Legislature to pass nation-leading climate legislation, known as the Next Generation Climate Roadmap bill, which overhauls the state’s climate laws, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, advances the clean energy industry and prioritizes and protects environmental justice communities.

House and Senate leaders have reached an agreement on a COVID-19 relief bill that would freeze unemployment insurance rates for employers, heading off a 60-percent increase in the next few weeks.
The new legislative package, announced by Beacon Hill leaders on Monday, also would exempt thousands of small businesses from being taxed on any forgiven loans they received last year through the federal Paycheck Protection Program.
