Six Washington State lawmakers three Republican and three Democratic gathered last week to discuss pressing health care issues and policies they expect to address in the upcoming 2022 legislative session. The conversations took place during two separate panels at the 2021 Inland Northwest State of Reform Health Policy Conference.

OLYMPIA A bill approved by state lawmakers that would prohibit hospitals from denying procedures in cases of miscarriage and pregnancy complications where a mother s life is at risk of injury or death is now awaiting a signature by Gov. Jay Inslee.
Proponents of the bill say patients across the state, when faced with life-threatening conditions such as ectopic pregnancies or sepsis, are sometimes put at risk if providers refuse care on religious or other grounds. Quite frankly . this is an issue of life and death, Sen. Patty Kuderer, D-Bellevue, Substitute Senate Bill 5140 s prime sponsor, told members of the Senate Health & Long Term Care Committee.
