Ko shot a 4-under-68 on a steamy Tanjong course at Sentosa Golf Club, following her round of 69 on Thursday. She started brilliantly with birdies on the first, third and fifth holes, then shot par on the next six holes. She had birdies on the 12th and 13th, but bogeyed the 15th, finishing with par on the final three holes.

Despite confessing she does not enjoy the heat, the reigning Olympic champion showed she was still one for the big occasion as she signed for a bogey-free card, marked by eight birdies. The tournament, cancelled last year because of the pandemic, is the first event on any international golf tour in Asia since the Asian Tour s Malaysian Open in March last year.
