BELL COUNTY, Texas Bell County s COVID-19 threat level is now at Level 3 following an uptick in average cases being reported this month, according to the Bell County Public Health District (BCPHD).
Level 3 indicates that there is moderate, controlled transmission, BCPHD reports.
“We saw a slight increase, which seemed to be related to an isolated event upon investigation,” Interim Health District Director Nikki Morrow said in a news release Friday. “However, the number of new cases coming in each day closer to the end of the week showed a continuous increase.”

Several hospitals in Bell County like Seton Medical Center are seeing more COVID-19 patients take up beds.
âOver the last few weeks, itâs risen. At what point around that post big pandemic surge, we were running a census around two COVID patients at one time. We made it to 10 earlier this week and now weâre back down to six,â said Seton Medical Center CEO Patrick Swindle.
The same goes for McLennan County.
âWe seen a steady increase in hospitalizations in the number of confirmed cases in McLennan County over the past three weeks. Our latest numbers show this past week weâve had an increase of 8 percent,â said Waco-McLennan Health District Kelly Craine.

KILLEEN, Texas A multi-vehicle crash in Killeen the morning of Wednesday, July 7 that left three people injured, and a 41-year-old man dead, is still under investigation.
According to the Killeen Police Department, a patrol officer was traveling westbound on Elms Road at around 9 a.m. when he saw a blue Dodge Charger traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed. The officer turned around to conduct a traffic stop, but lost sight of the car on W.S. Young and Stan Schlueter Loop.
Bell County officials seeing uptick in COVID-19 cases

BELL COUNTY, Texas Bell County healthcare leaders said that have noticed a recent uptick in COVID-19 cases as they continue to closely follow cases and hospitalizations in the county.
Over the past several weeks, the county’s incidence rate has hovered between 25 and 30 new cases per 100,000 population. However, last week’s total was 154 active cases.
“The increased volumes are more evidence that we are not out of COVID just yet,” Patrick Swindle, Chief Executive Officer of Seton Medical Center in Harker Heights, said. “Staying diligent with masking and appropriate hand-hygiene is still important. However, the most effective route is getting vaccinated. I urge the public to take the necessary steps to get vaccinated wherever offered.”
