Bucks Add Depth On Draft Night

By Tom King Milwaukee Bucks MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) â Without a first round pick the Milwaukee Bucks were looking to add some depth to their roster on draft night. They also made a trade that sent their 2nd round pick (#31) to Indiana for two later picks. Milwaukee then selected forward Alexander Mamukelashvili from Seton Hall and Georgios Kalaitzakis, a wing player from Greece. Mamukelashvili is a seven footer who played four years at Seton Hall and was the Big East Player of The Year. Kalaitzakis has played professionally in Greece for five years. Other draft night picks with Wisconsin ties included Jalen Johnson taken by Atlanta. Also Micah Potter and Sam Hauser went undrafted but signed deals with Miami and Boston respectively.

Chris Duarte Selected by Indiana Pacers in 2021 NBA Draft Duarte is the third Duck picked in the first round in the last four NBA drafts. Author: Oregon guard Chris Duarte has been drafted 13th overall by the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft. Duarte is the highest draft pick from Oregon since Luke Jackson was selected 10th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2004, and also the first lottery pick of the Dana Altman era. Duarte, 24, is originally from the Dominican Republic and moved to the United States to continue his basketball career at Redemption Christian Academy in New York. Even with offers from Syracuse, Seton Hall, Hofstra, and Western Kentucky he eventually landed at Northwest Florida State, where he shined in two seasons and eventually found himself with more opportunities at the Division 1 level.

The Bucks made these moves a week after their parade that celebrated their first NBA title since 1971. Milwaukee started the night with the 31st overall pick, the first selection of the second round. The Bucks selected 6-foot-10 forward Isaiah Todd but traded his draft rights to the Indiana Pacers. Todd, who played for the NBA G League Ignite this past season, later got traded to Washington.
