Faeries love the outside, so Kennebunk Free Library encourages the use of natural materials when building a house. Forbush Library expands visits by appointment; puts new Peckham paintings on display Staff report WESTMINSTER Forbush Memorial Library has announced its expanded hours for visitation by appointment. The library is open for browsing on Tuesdays from noon to 6:30 p.m.; Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Please call ahead at 978-874-7416 to schedule a 30-minute visit. Also, small groups can schedule meetings at the library, booked in advance. Masks and social distancing are in effect for all. Visits by children accompanied by an adult will be welcomed starting Tuesday, April 6, also by reservation. Patrons can browse books on the main and upper floor and in the children’s room. There will be opportunities for computer and copier use. Curbside service and home delivery options will remain available. Returned materials will continue to be quarantined for seven days

Newton County commissioners heard from both sides of a travel center plan for a site south of Social Circle before quickly voting to deny it Tuesday night. The Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday, Feb. 16, to deny the request from Jackson-based Jones Petroleum Co. for a rezoning of a 46-acre site at I-20 and Ga. Highway 11 for construction of a travel center with convenience store, gift shop, three fast-food restaurants and possible future construction of a supermarket.

A county commissioner says he will be among those opposing a controversial plan for a travel center and fast-food restaurants at I-20 and Georgia Hwy. 11 when the county planning commission considers it Tuesday night, Jan. 26. District 1 Commissioner Stan Edwards said area residents have overwhelmingly opposed the proposal by Jackson-based Jones Petroleum for a travel center covering 19 acres of a 46-acre site.
