Tropical Storm Crising speeds up toward Mindanao May 13, 2021 3:15 PM PHT Tropical Storm Crising accelerated while heading for the provinces of Davao Oriental and Surigao del Sur in Mindanao early Thursday afternoon, May 13. In a bulletin issued 2 pm on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Crising was already 250 kilometers east of Davao City, Davao del Sur. The tropical storm is moving west northwest at 25 kilometers per hour, more than double its previous speed of 10 km/h. It maintained its strength, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h and gustiness of up to 80 km/h. As Crising approaches, more areas have been placed under tropical cyclone wind signals as of 2 pm on Thursday.

(PAGASA) In its severe weather bulletin issued at 5 a.m., PAGASA said Crising was already in the vicinity of Kapalong, Davao del Norte at around 4 a.m. It has slightly weakened with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 75 kph while moving slowly west-northwestward. Tropical cyclone wind signal number 1 remains raised over the southeastern portion of Negros Oriental, southern portion of Surigao del Sur, central and southern portions of Agusan del Sur, northern and central portions of Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao City, northern portion of Cotabato, northern portion of Maguindanao, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Misamis Occidental, Bukidnon, central and western portions of Misamis Oriental, northeastern portion of Zamboanga del Sur, and northeastern portion of Zamboanga del Norte.

(PAGASA) In its severe weather bulletin issued at 5 a.m., PAGASA estimated the location of Crising at 420 kilometers east of Davao City around 4 a.m. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 55 kph, while it is seen to move west at 15 kph. Tropical cyclone wind signal number 1 is raised over Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and the eastern portion of Agusan del Sur (Prosperidad, San Francisco, Rosario, Bunawan, Trento, Santa Josefa, Veruela). “Strong breeze to near-gale conditions is likely over the localities where tropical cyclone wind signal number 1 is in effect, especially in the coastal and mountainous areas of these localities,” PAGASA advised.
