A planned solar power plant on the Mormon Mesa near Overton, Nevada could affect the viewing of Michael Heizer’s monumental

The Battle Born Solar Project under development by the California-based renewable energy company Arevia Power is estimated to cost $1bn and cover around 9,000 acres of the Mormon Mesa, which spans around 150,000 acres.

Neoen, one of the world’s leading and fastest-growing producers of exclusively renewable energy, has announced that it has been awarded 81.6 MWp in the call for tenders for ground-mounted solar farms held by the French government – CRE Innovation and CRE 4.9.
The 73.6 MWp won in CRE 4.9 is split between five projects, from 3 - 39 MWp, all following Neoen’s develop-to-own model.
Totalling 39 MWp, Loirecopark, the ground-mounted solar park in the Sarthe region, France, located on land belonging to a consortium of local authorities, will be one of Neoen’s largest in the country. The park will help restore former military land that has suffered from chemical pollution. When it opens in late 2022, the plant will produce enough green electricity to supply 26 000 people.

The investment comes from Winch Energy in partnership with NEoT Offgrid Africa (NEoT) – a platform established by Meridiam, EDF and Mitsubishi Corporation. NEoT supports and accelerates Africa’s energy transition and has already invested more than €30 million in the electrification of 25 000 homes and businesses in Ivory Coast and Nigeria. SunFunder is also providing an additional US$2 million construction loan to the project. The p

The Australian Energy Market Operator has reported record levels of new projects and megawatts of wind and solar coming into the main grid in the last year, and also reveals there are nearly 10 times as many projects queuing for a spot on the network.
In its latest “State of the Systems” report, a new publication designed to enhance visibility of the workings of the often contentious grid connection process, AEMO says that 12 new wind and solar generators with a total capacity of 1,560MW completed their commissioning in 2020, and are now in commercial operation.
But in a sign of the delays being experienced in some regions, it also notes that another 32 generators with a total capacity of 3,301MW had successfully completed the connections process and registered, meaning they were mechanically complete and compliant, but were yet to enter commercial operation. This was expected to occur in “coming weeks and months.”
