Strong winds are forecasted to last several days, he said. The next couple of days will be bit windier which will bring showers. He said wind gusts would stay around 40km/h. Several locations across the Coast recorded three to 10mm of rain on Thursday. Bellthorpe, Maroochydore recorded 13mm. Mr Claassen said the showers wouldn t be too disruptive. Over the next couple of days if you are on the coastline rainfall is most likely in the morning and if you are inland rain can be expected more in the afternoon, he said. He said no thunderstorms were expected to hit the Coast on Thursday.
BOM forecaster Felim Hanniffy described the activity as âquite sharp and short livedâ.
âThey donât tend to hang around too long but they are quite heavy,â Mr Hanniffy said.
âTheyâre big bursts but thereâs a good breeze about which moves them along.
âWe expect them to hang around in the first half of today and the same tomorrow as they come off the sea.
âThereâs quite a bit of instability around still.â
Mr Hanniffy said 14mm fell in an hour at Landsborough, an indicator of what was going on.
He said it was due to a southeast change that came in overnight.
