Vaccination drive: 49% turn up for shots in Delhi, walk-ins fill absentee slots | India News

NEW DELHI: On the third day of the Covid-19 vaccination programme in Delhi on Tuesday, 48.7%, or 4,936 of 10,125 healthcare workers scheduled to be injected, turned up at the city’s 81 centres. Though the percentage was lower than the record on the first day last Saturday, the total number of recipients on Tuesday was the highest till now. As in the previous rounds, the slots of the absentees were filled by individuals who volunteered to receive the jab. The number of adverse events was lower at 16 cases on Tuesday than in the earlier two rounds. According to a government report, one recipient of Covaxin among the 224 at six centres complained of minor adverse reactions, while 15 of the 4,712 people who were administered Covishield at 75 centres did the same.

LUCKNOW: The UP government is likely to introduce an ordinance soon to regulate and control religious places on private and public land. A presentation in this regard was made before chief minister Yogi Adityanath recently. After that, top circles in the governing BJP and the bureaucratic setup were conveyed about the intention of the government. A similar attempt was made by the BJP government in the state in January 2000, when Ram Prakash Gupta was the CM. Named UP Regulation of Public Religious Building and Places Bill 2000 , the Bill was passed by the assembly amid loud protests by the opposition. However, when it went for the assent of Raj Bhawan, then governor Suraj Bhan sent it to the President. The presidential consent never came and the Bill failed to turn into an Act.
