George Clooney is gearing up to head to the 25th century for Legendary’s
Buck Rogers TV series reboot. It was announced last December that
Brian K. Vaughan, the writer of comic books like
Y: The Last Man and
Saga, was handling the script, and now Clooney is on board to executive produce and likely star in the series. Legendary is hoping to launch an entire media franchise built around
Buck Rogers, a character who first appeared in the 1928 novella
Armageddon 2419 A.D. and then went on to feature in a radio show, a film serial, a television series, and more.
Brian K. Vaughan to script Buck Rogers reboot
Back in October it was announced that Legendary Pictures had acquired the rights to
Buck Rogers with plans for a multi-platform reboot of the classic sci-fi character, including a feature film and prestige TV series.
Well, we now have word that Brian K. Vaughan, the comic book creator behind the likes of
Runaways,
Saga and
Y: The Last Man, has signed on to write the television component. Vaughn does have past TV experience, having written episodes of
Lost as well as serving as showrunner on the Stephen King adaptation
Under the Dome.
