Province reports 624 new cases, 11 more deaths due to COVID-19

This has been a challenging outbreak for everyone who lives at McKinney, their loved ones, and their staff and physicians who care committed to their care, said Interior Health CEO Susan Duncan. The Interior Health region has 788 active cases, including 31 in hospital, with nine of those patients in critical care. Elsewhere in the province, there were 106 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 406 in Fraser Health, five in Vancouver Island Health and 47 in Northern Health. The province has administered another 1,376 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine over the past 24 hours. That makes for 2,592 doses given to date. There are now 356 people in hospital across the province, with 92 in critical care.

Time is critical as Kamloops woman seeks kidney donor

The situation has become dire as she now faces the reality of possible kidney failure within the next few months. “I appear to be well and, from the outside, you’d never know what I am facing,” said the 37-year-old Corpuz. “However, it will only be a few more months before my kidneys will not function well enough without intervention.” Corpuz has not worked since 2017 due to her health condition, noting she is perpetually exhausted. “Even when washing the dishes, I get so tired,” she said. Corpuz’s twin sister, Raquel de Guia, works with the Central Interior chapter of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association and, along with CHBA-CI executive officer Rose Choy, has been spreading the word on her sister’s need for a kidney transplant. A medical condition precludes a sister to sister transplant, which is why the search is on for a donor.
