Also a police officer in Toowoomba, Senior Constable Susan Forte revealed colleagues laid blame on her after she was the first person to identify the man, who in a cruel twist of fate would later kill her husband, as a risk to the public.
A policewoman whose officer husband was fatally shot by a violent criminal has told how cruel trolls told her the killer was a hero and even blamed her for his death.
Senior Constable Brett Forte was shot dead by career criminal Rick Maddison - who his wife Susan had two months earlier identified as a high-risk violent offender - at a traffic stop near Toowoomba, Queensland, on May 29, 2017.
Maddison was later gunned down by police after a 21-hour siege in Gatton, where he was holed up inside a shed armed with an SKS assault rifle.
Mrs Forte admitted in a recent draft article commissioned by the state s police force she has faced disgusting abuse in the years since, including being told you would be better off dead with your husband .
