Man arrested for cheating pvt company of Rs 30 lakh | Coimbatore News

Coimbatore: The district crime branch (DCB) of Coimbatore rural police on Monday arrested a 32-year-old man for cheating a private company of Rs 30 lakh. The accused, K Raju of BSS Road in Tirupur, was booked under sections 403(dishonest misappropriation of property), 408 (criminal breach of trust by clerk or servant) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code. The chief manager of Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd at Kangeyampalayam near Sulur, S Shankar, lodged a complaint with the DCB against Raju. The company is a travel agency. In his complaint, Shankar alleged that Raju had misappropriated Rs 30 lakh of the company’s funds while he was working in the company between 2019 and 2020. Police registered a case and arrested Raju on Monday. However, police didn’t recover any amount from him. Later, Raju was produced before a judicial magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. TNN

Coimbatore: In a sign of distress for the public and district health authorities, the daily caseload touched a new high of 2,509 fresh Covid-19 cases on Sunday in Coimbatore. With Covid numbers spiking at an alarming rate, breaching the previous day’s caseload, hospitals have started feeling the pinch. The number of beds available for accommodating Covid patients has been sharply falling over the past few days, more so the beds with ventilator and oxygen availability. Much like other parts of the country, desperate appeals seeking beds with oxygen and ventilator provisions have slowly started emerging on social media in Coimbatore as well.

The arrested has been identified as K. Raju, a resident of Process Server Street, B.S.S. Road in Tiruppur. As per a release issued by CCB, Raju worked in a private firm near Sulur. The firm offered booking of flight tickets. As per complaint lodged by the principal manager of the firm, Raju cheated the firm of ₹ 29,98,217 by defrauding the collection amount generated from flight ticket bookings between September 1, 2019 and July 30, 2020.

TNSTC operates 15 buses for govt employees, conservancy workers

Updated: Share Article AAA With the two-week lockdown coming into force on Monday to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the Coimbatore Division of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) operated 15 buses for employees of the Coimbatore District Collectorate and conservancy workers attached to the Coimbatore Corporation on Monday. TNSTC officials said that six buses were operated for 123 Collectorate employees and nine buses were operated for 412 conservancy workers on Monday. The employees of various government departments at the Collectorate were picked up from Pollachi, Mettupalayam, Annur, Sulur, Karumathampatti and Vadavalli and were dropped at the Collectorate office at 9.45 a.m. The buses will also be operated at around 5 p.m. for their return journey, the officials said.
