PESHAWAR:
The provincial government on Tuesday launched its Human Rights Action Plan, similar to the one previously launched by Punjab.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Law and Human Rights Minister Sultan Muhammad Khan, who launched the plan, hoped that the plan will further strengthen protection of human rights in the province.
Addressing the launch event in Peshawar, Sultan said that the Human Rights Action Plan (HRAP) has been formulated in collaboration with all stakeholders.

Shortage of oxygen at Mansehra hospital echoes in KP Assembly

PESHAWAR: After the recent incident involving the deaths of seven patients due to the shortage of oxygen at the Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) in the provincial capital, the non-availability of oxygen at the King Abdullah Hospital in Mansehra was raised in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Friday.
On a point of order, Naeema Kishwar of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) said patients were shifted to hospitals in Abbottabad due to non-availability of oxygen at the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital in Mansehra.
She said it was a serious issue that hospitals were facing shortage of oxygen at a time when coronavirus cases were on the rise. She said action should be taken against the ones responsible for the shortage of oxygen.
Opposition members in KP Assembly call off protest after assurance

PESHAWAR: The opposition in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly called off the protest after holding successful negotiations with the government team here on Thursday.
The joint opposition have been staging a sit-in outside the Chief Minister’s House for the last three days to protest against the government for not providing them development funds. The opposition members also wanted to lodge protest over the death of seven Covid-19 patients in Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) due to shortage of oxygen.
However, the opposition members called off the strike after assurance by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan to redress their grievances. The government team comprising Law Minister Sultan Muhammad Khan, Minister for Local governments Akbar Ayub and Minister for Labour and Culture Shaukat Yousafzai held talks with the protesting opposition members.
