During the festival, various colourful activities and cultural programmes were performed. During the day-long event various snow sports activities including skiing, snow sledge, snow biking, etc. were held in which athletes from various districts participated enthusiastically. The event also witnessed various colourful cultural items presented by the renowned artists of the valley and scintillating performances by famous singers who enthralled the audience with various traditional folk and cultural shows.

Tourists return to Valley, Gulmarg hotels booked until end of April

Express News Service SRINAGAR: It seems the good days are back again. Tourists are returning to the militancy-hit Jammu and Kashmir. The Valley’s famed ski resort of Gulmarg is sold out, as all hotels are booked till the end of April. With heavy snowfall this year, the tourist resort of Gulmarg at an altitude of 8,000 feet has been a major attraction this winter and witnessed 100 per cent occupancy on Christmas and New Year eve. Mushtaq Shah, spokesman of Gulmarg Hoteliers Club, said all hotels are booked. “Over 900 hotel rooms including J&K Tourism Department huts in Gulmarg are booked till April-end. All classes of tourists including high-spending tourists and budget tourists are coming to Gulmarg,” he said.

Image Source: IANS News Srinagar, Feb 12 : Khelo India games will be held between February 25 and March 2, 2021 without disturbing the pre-booked tourist accommodation at Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Friday. Earlier, a news appeared in a section of media wherein a communication from district administration Baramulla was quoted for cancellation of pre booking accommodation at Gulmarg in view of the Khelo India games. The Directorate of Tourism Kashmir has clarified that in consultation with stakeholders including District Administration Baramulla, J&K Sports Council and Hoteliers Club, Gulmarg had deliberated upon the issue in series of meetings wherein a mutually agreed formula was devised to ensure that the requisite accommodation is made available for t
