Published July 1, 2021, 10:15 AM National Bureau of Investigation (2) Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation’s Environmental Crime Division (NBI-EnCD) have arrested six persons for alleged illegal quarrying operations in Lian, Batangas. Those arrested last June 24 were identified by the NBI as Rodel Marinduque, Francis Dacuya, Claudio Tamayo, Roger Betonia, Sonny Marinduque, and Jovencio Malabanan. The NBI said they were presented for investigation before the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Manila for violations of Republic Act No. 7942, the Philippine Mining Act of 1995. NBI Officer-in-Charge Director Eric B. Distor said the operation was requested by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environment Protection and Enforcement Task Force (DENR-EPETF).

Distor identified those arrested and charged as Angelica Sanchez, Rose Marie Solomon, Daniel Solana, Romeo Enriquez, Maria Clarisa Camanguan, and Emmanuel dela Cruz. In a statement, the NBI said they were arrested by operatives of the NBI’s Environmental Crime Division (NBI-EnCD) last Thursday, April 22, after being caught occupying with permanent structures on a protected landscape in Barangay San Rafael in Rodriguez, Rizal.

NBI Officer-In-Charge Director Eric B. Distor on Wednesday, March 17. identified those arrested last March 11 as Barangay Balanac Chairman Dennis Olipano, Michael Abad, Randy delos Reyes, Danilo Noriel and Abner Davac. Distor said they were arrested by the agents of the NBI’s Environmental Crime Division (NBI-EnCD).  “Subjects were arrested for disposing and extracting boulders and minerals from Balanac River, Laguna without necessary permits from DENR-MGB (Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Mines and Geosciences Bureau) or the PMRB-Laguna (Provincial Mining Regulatory Board),” the NBI said in a statement.
