CEMEX Colombia receives permission to expand production capacity

Advertisement CEMEX has announced that the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Antioquia notified its subsidiary CEMEX Colombia S.A. that it approved the modification of the environmental license of the plant built by CEMEX Colombia in the municipality of Maceo, Antioquia. This will allow the extraction of 990 000 t of materials (clay and limestone) and the production of up to 1 500 000 metric t of cement annually. This authorisation represents an important step for the project s future operation, allowing the continuation of the following pending activities that will enable the possibility of starting operations: the construction of the access road to the plant; the completion of pending actions of the project; and the commissioning of the cement plant.

The Leader Newspaper Concerns about waste processing plant site in Los Veleros Benijofar By Andrew Atkinson Exclusive BENIJOFAR residents’ concerns about a waste site in the Vega Baja town are increasing amid The Benijofar socialist group having placed a denunciation in 2020 surrounding the issue. Speaking exclusively to The Leader a resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “Two years ago they cleared the area in Los Veleros, then the floods came. At that time skips started to arrive on the site at 7.30am, up until 8.45pm. “We thought it was because of the floods (Gota Fria) – but that was not the case. And, more importantly, we are lead to believe there are no licences to do it.”
